Lula Barrett

October 1, 1949 — May 16, 2012

Waynesville, Lula Cairnes Barrett, age 62, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospital. She was a native of Henderson County and was the daughter of the late Charles Vernon and Mary Kathleen Branks Cairnes. She was also preceded in death by her husband James Barrett in 1980, one son Brian Barrett, and two brothers, Joe Branks and Jack Cairnes. Lula enjoyed sightseeing on the Blue Ridge Parkway and dining with Lawrence at the J & S Cafeteria. She is survived by one son, Chris Barrett and his wife Tanya of Clyde; two sisters, Pat Anders and her husband Dale of Waynesville and Mary McElroy and her husband Henry of Lake Wales, FL; three brothers, Marvin Cairnes and his wife Judy of Hendersonville, Charles Cairnes and his wife Wanda of Fletcher, and Jimmy Burris and his wife Deanna of Asheville; special companion Lawrence Odell Nelson of Waynesville; 4 grandchildren; Daniel Ledford, Chelsea Southerland, Blake and Aleya Barrett. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, May 19, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Reverend Brian Cartee will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the funeral home prior to the service.
