Lurena Hoglen

Lurena Smith Reynolds Hoglen, age 81, died Friday, February 26, 2010 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Bud Vincent and Legia Penland Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Calvin Andrew "Pete" Reynolds, who passed away in 1972; a son, Jerry Lee Reynolds, who passed away in 1990; her second husband, Bobby Joe Hoglen, who passed away in 2006; and a sister, Loretta Wilson, who passed away in 2005. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Lurena worked at America Enka Plant for many years before retiring. She enjoyed going camping and fishing in KOA at Cherokee and she loved her grandkids and her great-grandchild. She is survived by her son, Jimmy V. Reynolds and his wife, Kathy; two step-sons, Bobby D. Hoglen and his wife, Cathy, and Lloyd W. Hoglen; five grandchildren, Wendy and Cody Reynolds, Jessica Hoglen, Amanda Hoglen Dyer and her husband, Jason, and Zackary Hoglen; and one great-grandchild, Austin Dyer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Reverend Bobby Winebarger, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Wesleyan Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
