Luther Greene

Luther Maynard Greene, age 89, passed away on Thursday, February 03, 2011 at Thomasville Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Robert and Dorsey Fisher Greene. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Rathbone Greene, who died in 2004; three brothers; and four sisters. Luther was a member of Meadow Grove Baptist Church and along with his wife, he was the former co-owner of Hilltop Supply and Greene's Grocery. He is survived by one daughter, Betty Blaylock and her husband, Charles; two sons, David Greene and his wife, Pam, and Don Greene and his wife Marilyn; one sister, Opal Mann; a special niece, Susie Caldwell; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2011 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Perry Brindley officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior at the funeral home.
