Lyman Hudgins, born on May 31, 1936, in Blytheville, Arkansas, passed away on January 14, 2025, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a devoted family man, serving as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother throughout his life.
Lyman proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he demonstrated his dedication to his country. After his military service, he cultivated a passion for music, which remained a significant part of his life. However, his most cherished role was that of a grandfather, where he found joy and fulfillment in nurturing his grandkids.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Gladys Stiles Hudgins. Lyman is also survived by his children by marriage, Betty Sue Nelson and Erwin Ellis McMahan. He leaves behind a sister, Emma Hudgins, and a brother, James Hudgins (Gayle). In addition, Lyman is remembered fondly by his ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Hudgins and mother, Arbie Hudgins; two children, Peggy Steinal and James Edward McMahan, along with several brothers and sisters, whom he missed dearly.
Lyman Hudgins will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family and his enduring spirit. His legacy will continue to live on through the lives he touched, and the memories created during his remarkable journey.
At this time there will be no formal services for Mr. Hudgins.
The care of Mr. Hudgins has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
