Lynda Gibson

January 25, 1946 — April 18, 2013

Waynesville, Lynda Rogers Gibson, age 67, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at her residence. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of Mary Reece Rogers and the late Martin Rogers. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Leon Gibson, who died in 2010. She retired from the Foundation for Evangelism with 27 years of service. Lynda enjoyed crocheting and working in her garden. She was a lifelong member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church. In addition to her mother, she is survived by two daughters, Wendy Jo Ferguson and her husband, Todd, of Hendersonville, NC and Lisa Marie Gibson of Knoxville, Tennessee; three sons, Leon Channing Gibson and his wife, Vicky, of Waynesville, David Martin Gibson and his wife, Mary Ann, of Waynesville and Nicholas Patrick Gibson and his girl friend, Jessica Presnell, of Waynesville; one sister, Rikki Rogers of Waynesville; seven grandchildren, Jason Gibson, Beth Gibson, Cassie Gibson, Halee Crider, Nicholas Ferguson, Hannah Holt and Michael Gibson; one great-grandchild, Lily Gibson and Lynda's faithful dog, Chunky. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2013 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Martha Welch and Reverend Don Reece officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Rikki Rogers, 140 Still Water Drive, Waynesville.
