Mabel Childers

September 9, 1919 — April 3, 2003

Candler-Mabel Reece Childers-83, of 412 Ridge Street, went on to be with the Lord Thursday, April 3, 2003 at Memorial Mission Hospital.

She was a native of Haywood County and was a daughter of the late Jonah and Ethel Ball Reece. She was the wife of the late Candler Sylvester Childers who died in 1989 and was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Childers who died in 1995. She was a homemaker and was an active member of Maple Ridge Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Beverly Nadine Goodson and her husband Edwin and Brenda Hampton and her husband Perry all of Candler and Joan Hutchins of Rutherfordton, two sisters, Katherine Rice of Candler and Pearl Jefferson of Knoxville, TN, two brothers, Coy and Howard Reece both of Candler, 9 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2003 at Maple Ridge Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Fox and Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service on Saturday. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons.
