Waynesville, NC-Mabel "Mae" Harvey, age 84, of 54 Chancery Lane, died Monday, March 28, 2005 at her residence. A native of Brooklyn, NY, she had formerly lived in Lindenhurst, NY, before moving to Haywood County in 1991. She was the daughter of the late Chris and Anna Terjesen Christiansen. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jean Rankin and a sister, Eleanor Oberle. She retired from W.A. Baum Medical Instruments Company where she was employed as a secretary. She was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lindenhurst, NY. She was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church from where she visited the shut-ins and belonged to the Golden Harvesters. She volunteered at the Open Door Christian Ministries and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and making doll dresses. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Eugene Harvey; a daughter, Barbara Ann Baiera, and her husband, Charles, of the Crabtree community; a son, James Eugene Harvey and his wife, Valerie, of Chesapeake, VA; a brother, Arnold Christiansen, of Dallas, TX; six grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2005 at Allens Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Eddie Deitz, Reverend Lloyd Fish, and Reverend Jerry Ensley officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Wells Funeral Homes, and Cremation Services of Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons and grandson-in-laws. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28786.
