MABEL U. MCEVOY

Waynesville-Mabel Underwood McEvoy, age 95, died Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Lillie Mae Bridges Underwood. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Walter, Thomas, Charles, and Fred Underwood; and sisters, Obera Fitzgerald, Cybil Holland, Florence Jackson, and Hassie White. She was an accountant employed by Sam Underwood, CPA for 15 years. She enjoyed her grandchildren, crocheting, and knitting. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesville.

She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Henry, and her husband, Bill, of Waynesville; a sister, Flora White, of Bremerton, Washington; a granddaughter, Angel Sutton, and her husband, Kevin; and three grandsons, Allen Henry, and his wife, Jennifer, Trey Henry and his wife, Tonya, and Caris Henry, and his wife Paula.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2003 at Green Hill Cemetery with Reverend Robert Cooper and Reverend John Daniels officiating. Pallbearers will be Allen, Trey, and Caris Henry, Sam Underwood, Tim Shook, and Bill and Charles Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, and at other times, at the residence, 157 Calhoun Road.
