Mable Miller

April 24, 1928 — June 16, 2012

Waynesville, Mable Alice McCall Miller, age 84, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at The Homestead. A native of Morganton, NC and a former resident of Hickory, NC and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, she had resided in Haywood County for the past eight years. She was the daughter of the late William Azor and Zalie Rhodes McCall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sterling Ray Miller and a sister, Maxine England. She was a consummate volunteer and very active in the Broward General Hospital Auxiliary. Mable was known for opening her heart of gold to all friends and family. She enjoyed sharing her specialty cakes and was the family champion at card games as well as a skilled bridge player. She is survived by two sons, Richard A. Miller and his wife, Kay, of Waynesville and Robert D. Miller and his wife, Jana, of Stockertown, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, R. Anderson Miller, Jacob Miller and Jenifer Dawson and her husband, Will; two great-grandchildren, Kayla and her sister, Keira Alicen on the way. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Morganton, NC with Pastor Janice Ford officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MedWest Haywood Homestead Hospice Center, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
