Macaria Ortiz

Macaria Zúñiga Ortiz, age 97, died Monday, April 05, 2010 at her residence. A native of Mexico, she was a daughter of the late Melesio and Eusebia Gutiérrez Zúñiga. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Macaria was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Canton. She loved crocheting. She is survived by a daughter, Maria Ortiz Pressley of Canton; two half-sisters, Cayetana and Delfina Zúñiga of Mexico; three half-brothers, Juan, Salvador, and Pedro Zúñiga all of Mexico; one grandson, Josh Pressley; two granddaughters, Suzie Pressley Hardin and Lizzy Pressley Irvin and her husband, Shane; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Logan Hardin. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Father Larry LaMonaco officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Maria's Mexican Pueblo in Waynesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels (Haywood County), 486 East Marshall Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
