Macie Elizabeth Worley Scott, 86, passed away Friday, November 7, 2014, at her residence. She was a lifelong resident of the Beaverdam Community of Haywood County and a founding member of Long Branch Missionary Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late George Raby and Artie Scott Worley. She was also preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, John Aldion Scott, who died in 1999; a brother, Tom Worley, and three sisters: Wilma Worley, Reva Ferguson, and Sue Worley. Macie loved fishing on the Outer Banks and taking care of her flower garden. She is survived by her children, Alana DeBruhl and husband, Jim, of Canton, Randy Scott and wife, Patsy, of Canton, and Luke Scott and wife, Ann, of Tucson, AZ; one brother, Tyrannis Worley of Leicester, and one sister, Malinda Lusk, of Monroe; four grandchildren: Shannon Scott, Amy Peterson, Rhiannon Hatchell, and Jessica Ledford; six great-grandchildren: Camden, Trinity, Vanessa, Hayden, Ashlynn, and Aldion; and her long-time caregiver, Nicole Cooper and friend, Erica Stallard. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home of Canton with the Reverend Martin Worley officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
