Mack Ballew

Mack Lynn Ballew, age 74, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at his brother's residence. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Berlin and Midge Ballew. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lois Marie Penland Ballew, who passed away in 2012; an infant daughter, Karen Rochell Ballew, three brothers, Everette, Richard, Frank Ballew; and a grandson, Steven Christopher Craine. Mack worked at Candler supermarket until it closed and then began working at Ingles. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Melita Craine and her husband, Anthony, of Asheville; a son, Steven Ballew and his wife, Michele, of Hendersonville; four sisters, Ruth Penley, Annette Penland, Patricia Allison, and Shirley Scott; two brothers, Anthony and David Ballew; and three grandchildren, Whitney Ballew, Marissa Price, and Josh Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Trinity Baptist Church with the Reverend Allen Rash and Reverend Donnie Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Wesleyan Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of arrangements.
