Waynesville-Mack Carl Bryson, age 81, of 383 Monte Vista Drive, died on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and life-long resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Carl and Ninnie McElroy Bryson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Mack Bryson, who died in 1953 and two sisters, Edna Davis and Ila Lepley. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served during World War II on the USS Charger. Mack was a former employee of the Dayco Corporation and retired with 36 years service and later worked as manager for Haywood County Recycling Facilities for 15 years. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Juanita Messer Bryson; two daughters, Joyce Tharpe and her husband, Lee, of Gainesville, GA and Cindy Coward and her husband, Keith, of Clyde; a son, Ronnie Mack Bryson of Waynesville; seven sisters, Lois Pippin, Ruby Green, and Pansy Reeves, all of the Iron Duff Community, Jessie Humphrey of Boothwyn, PA, Sally Kate Phillips and Billie Davis, both of Waynesville, and Susie Richards of Rossville, GA; one brother, Duane Bryson of the Iron Duff Community; six grandchildren, Travis and Cassie Tharpe, Josh and Cody Bryson, and Lindsey and Luke Coward; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at Antioch Baptist Church, of which he was a member with Reverend Steve Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
