Candler-Mack Foy Parker- age 84 died Monday, June 14, 2004 at Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center. He was a native of Haywood County and lived most of his life in Buncombe County. He was a son of the late Gus Allen Parker, Sr. and Annie Allen Parker and the husband of the late Oneva Redmon Parker who died in 1990. Mr. Parker was a lifelong carpenter by trade and a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church in Candler. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II and a member of the VFW post # 5198. He is survived by four daughters, Mackalene Sandlin and her husband Bill of Candler, Suzanne Parker Guinn of Asheville, Nancy Patton and her husband Ronnie of Nebo and Judi Rector and her husband Roger of Fairview; one sister, Helen Drake of Candler and four grandchildren, Chris and Scott Sandlin, Sean Love and Nathan Patton and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2004 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with his niece the Reverend Betty Drake officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice Solace, P.O. Box 16, Asheville, NC 28802.
