Madeline Brookshire

September 28, 1924 — October 3, 2004

Candler-Madeline Garrison Brookshire, age 80, formerly of Candler, died Sunday, October 3, 2004 at the Oaks of Sweeten Creek. She was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Carl and Bonnie Hensley Garrison. She was the wife of the late Birlen James Brookshire who died in 1988 and was also preceded in death by a son, James Robert Brookshire who died in 1986, two sisters and two brothers. She retired from the Biltmore Estate and was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church and had attended Ridgeway Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Conner of Asheville, one son, Roger Brookshire of Candler, one brother, Carl Garrison, Jr., of Old Fort, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Candler. Reverend Mark Elkins will officiate. Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Canton is in charge of arrangements.
