Canton - Madgeline Carver Scott, age 85, of 94 Morning Glory Lane in the Beaverdam Community of Canton died Saturday, March 8, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was a daughter of the late Arvil and Sally Smith Carver. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Taylor Scott who died in 2001; a son, James Edward Scott who died in 1991; a sister and five brothers.
She was a member of Beaverdam United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and she was an avid gardener and homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters, Georgia Ledford and her husband, Howard of Leicester; Shirley Scott of Beaverdam and Martha Hall and her husband, Grady of Beaverdam; six sisters, Reva Carver, Mary Holder, Tootsie Lindsey and Linda Smith all of Canton and Peggy Mills and Rose Cathey both of Waynesville; one brother, J. T. Carver of Gaffney, SC as well as seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2003 at Beaverdam United Methodist Church with the Reverend Naomi King officiating. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Community Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
