Waynesville, Mae Bell Howell, age 85, of Peters Cove, died on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late William Claude and Pearl James Green. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Millard Howell, who died in 1977; a daughter, June Howell Hall; four sisters; six brothers; and one grandson, Alan Howell. She was a homemaker and loved doing crafts, flower gardening, and quilting. She is survived by a son, William Howell and his wife, Lynn, of Waynesville; four daughters, Susie Rogers and her husband, Wayne, of Leicester, Beatrice Campbell and her husband, Bill, of Albertville, AL, Mildred Howell of Guntersville, AL; and Debbie Haney and her husband, Keith, of Waynesville; two sisters, Katherine Mintz and Jincie Lee and one brother, Harrison Green, all of Waynesville; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2009 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jimmy Trantham officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mathew Woody, Tommy Lanning, Jr., Michael Hall, Tyler and Keith Haney, Augustine Sanchez Reyes and honorary pallbearers will be Bronco Rangel, Brian Dobbins, and Ryan Gibson. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. prior to services.
