Mae Poston

Ottie Mae Hodge Poston, age 93, of the Cruso community, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville. A native of Monroe County, Tennessee, she was a daughter of the late Robert Warren and Dorcas Murr Hodge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Way Poston; a son, George Arthur Poston; and three sisters, Sally Debety, Dossie Best, and Minnie Brown. Mae loved attending Pisgah Freewill Baptist Church, to which she was the oldest member, with her daughter, Dorcas and she also loved working in her garden. She was much loved in her community. She is survived by two daughters, Dorcas Poston of Canton and Rhoda Poston Newman of Rome, Georgia; one son, Dale Poston and his wife, Wanda, of Savannah, Georgia; two grandchildren, Ashli Poston Kestner (Alan) of Savannah, Georgia, and Rebecca Hooper King (John) of Columbia, South Carolina; and four great-grandchildren, Kyleigh and Delaney Kestner of Savannah, Georgia and Jackson and Will King of Columbia, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2014 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Jake Cagle and Pastor Jeff Heatherly officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
