Maggie Cagle

September 19, 1937 — June 22, 2016

Waynesville, Maggie Sutton Cagle, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at her residence. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Jarvis and Wilsye Trantham Caldwell. She was also preceded in death by her husband Charles "Dude" Cagle, who died in 2015 and Billy Sutton who died in 1974; one son James Homer Lee Sutton; and a brother, Lucky Caldwell. Maggie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maggie Valley. Maggie owned Cagle Produce Stand and was employed at Maggie Mountaineer Crafts. Maggie had a heart of gold & would always put others before herself. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and raising all types of animals. She was an excellent quilter and an avid reader. Her legacy of love and compassion will forever be remembered. Maggie is survived by three daughters; Katherine "Kathy" Cook, and her husband, Teddy, of White Oak, Jeanette "Mooch" Burgess, of Balsam, and Jimmie "Tinker" Moody, of Maggie Valley; two surrogate daughters, Ruby Sutton, of Waynesville, and Darlene Fie, of Virginia; five sisters, Mary Sue Gentry, of Maggie Valley, Wilma "Tootsie" Jones, and her husband, Doug Thompson, of Canton, Hazel Rich, and her husband, Frank, of Maggie Valley, Barbara Cagle, and her husband, Garland, of Waynesville, and Nellie Morrow, and her husband, Jerry, of Waynesville; special sister, Helen Burch; special niece, Maggie's "Little" Jenny Carver; four grandchildren, Monica Wells, and precious son-in-law, Hugh, Lisa Massey, and her husband, Donnie, Billy Sutton, and his wife, Charlene, and Justin Moody; six great-grandchildren, Bridgett Wells, William Sutton, Shaylin Sutton, Lauren Riddle, Briahna and McKaila Moody; two great-great-grandchildren, Tayla Watson and Isla Watson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 27, 2016 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Mike Odom, Reverend Jerry Nelson and Reverend Ricky Mason officiating. Burial will follow at Turner Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Cagle, William Sutton, Bill Sutton, Justin Moody, Joe Jones and Darren Cagle; honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Morrow, James Corn, Terry Morrow and Burton Smith.
