Maggie Parton

Waynesville, Maggie Frances Shelton Parton, age 76, died on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Roy R. and Annie Cagle Shelton. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Dale Cook, as well as, five brothers and one sister. Frances enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, knitting, and eating out. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ray Parton; two daughters, Linda P. Walton and her husband, Edward, of Gaffney, SC and Jennifer Parton of Canton; two sisters, Anna Kirkendoll of Waynesville and Ruth Medford of Canton; six grandchildren, Teri, Summer, Michela, and Bronson Cook and Devona and Eric Walton; and four great grandchildren, Eli Walton, Caitlyn Fuller, and Jaci and Kenzie Cook. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Ted Reeves and Reverend Craig Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
