Maggie Trantham

July 30, 1918 — April 17, 2006

Waynesville-Maggie B. Trantham, age 87, of 3759 Max Patch Road, died on Monday, April 17, 2006 at her residence. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Kirkpatrick Beasley. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy Trantham, and five brothers, Nate, Woodrow, McCreary, Glenn, and Aurdren Beasley. She owned and operated Trantham Grocery with her husband, Homer, and was a member of Belmont Baptist Church where she served as treasurer for many years. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Homer Trantham; a son, Edwin Trantham and his wife, Juanita, of Clyde; two sisters, Georgia Temple and husband, Gordon, of Church Road, VA and Pearl Trantham and husband, Roy, of Clyde; a sister-in-law, Myrtle Beasley, of Newport News, VA; two grandchildren, Lee Trantham and wife, Belinda, and Linda Trantham, both of Clyde; four great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at Belmont Baptist Church with Reverend Carl Chastain and Reverend Johnny Swanger officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be nephews, Gary, Jerry, Don, Dwight, and Billy Beasley, John Schmitt, Randy Ledford, Mike Freeman, and Paul Ledford. Memorials may be given to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
