Marcella Cable

Waynesville, Marcella Buchanan Cable, age 85, went home to be in the presence of her Heavenly Father on the 12th day of December, 2016. A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter to the late Roy and Luna Cowan Buchanan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Conrad, Paul and Glenn Buchanan and sisters, Carrie Adam and Muriel Moore. She retired from Dayco with 36 years of service. Her many interests included sewing, quilting, baking, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church where she was an active member of her Sunday School class for more than forty years. Marcella was a woman of grace, dignity, and poise. She was most generous with many people, especially her family. She always kept a positive attitude toward life and chose to see the best in everyone. Her pleasant smile and encouraging words will be dearly missed. Marcella is survived by her husband of 64 years, Sam Cable; a son, Craig Cable and his wife, Holly, of Clyde; grandson, Cody Cable; a sister, Rachel Bishop and her husband, Billy, of Waynesville; a brother, Dempsey Buchanan and his wife, Linda, of Sylva; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Allens Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Eddie Deitz officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allens Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 549 Allens Creek Road, Waynesville, NC 28786.
