Margaret Brown

Margaret Pless Brown, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2013. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Claude Pless and Helen Pless Smathers. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Eugene Brown; four brothers, Edward, Claude Lee, Jr., and Charles Pless, and Willard Poston; and a sister, Christine Pless Dean. Margaret was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church where she created the "Friends of Jesus" Sunday School Class. She retired from Haywood Vocational Opportunities where she served as Director of Rehabilitation Program, which apart from her family was the most rewarding time of her life. She loved the clients and was proud of their many accomplishments. A member of the ARC of Haywood County, Margaret was involved with developing the first group home for the developmentally challenged and physically disabled adults in Haywood County. She is survived by one son, Rick Brown of Clyde; one daughter, Vicki Ball and her husband, M.J. Ball, Jr., of Marshall; two grandsons, M.J. Ball, III, and Lee Ball and his wife, Jennifer; six great grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dennis Thurman officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the services.
