Margaret (Bobbi) Langston

Margaret (Bobbi) Langston was born on February 27, 1945, in Lumpkin, Georgia to the union of Ethel (Stubbs) and Howard Shipp, both preceded her in death. She was the eldest of five children. Two siblings Howard Shipp Jr. and Michael Shipp, both preceded her in death.

She attended grade school in Lumpkin, Georgia, and Youngstown, Ohio. She graduated from Marshall High School in Chicago, Illinois in 1963. After graduating from high school, she completed her nursing degree and worked as a nurse for many years. She married and had three children, James (Kimberly) Norman, Glenn Keyes, Shawna Tutt O’Connor. She married Lewis Langston in 1980. 

Margaret worked as an industrial nurse at Oscar Mayer Foods, Chicago, IL. She moved into Human Resources as a Personal Assistant and later was promoted to the position of Assistant Human Resources Manager. When Oscar Mayer Foods closed in 1993, she and Lewis relocated to Waynesville, North Carolina in support of their Jehovah Witness faith. Upon arriving in Waynesville, North Carolina, Margaret worked as a nurse before becoming the Human Resource Manager for the town of Waynesville. She worked diligently for more than twenty years serving the employees and the residents of the town of Waynesville. She also served on several local and regional advisory boards lending her experience and expertise. She retired in 2015 to spend time with her husband, family and pursue her hobbies. 

She passed peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Sunday, January 12, 2025. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sisters Gwen Yates and Francis (Donnell) Young, her husband, Lewis Langston, her children, James (Kimberly) Norman, Glenn Keyes, and Shawna Tutt O’Connor, her 8 grandchildren, one of whom she raised as a beloved son, Kristopher Tutt; 10 great grandchildren, as well as, loved relatives and cherished friends.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Repass will follow at Wells Event and Reception Center.   

The care of Ms. Langston has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville
