Margaret Davis

Canton – Margaret Louise Sherrill Davis, 83, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at her residence.

Margaret was a native of Haywood County and a daughter of the late L. M. “Happy” and May Moore Sherrill.  She was a teacher for 28 years with 18 of those years at Pisgah High School.  Margaret was a member of Plains United Methodist Church where she enjoyed quilting with the ladies and was Past Matron of Sonoma #254 Order of the Eastern Star.  She also loved spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, C. Don Davis; two daughters, Laura Davis Roberts (Daryl) of Asheville and Linda Karen Davis of Atlanta, Georgia; one son, Stephen Charles Davis (Michelle) of Columbia, South Carolina; and five grandchildren, Cole Hunter Roberts, Davis Connor Roberts, Katherine Kelly Davis, Alan Troy Maharg, and Morgan Amelia Davis.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Plains United Methodist Church with the Reverend Clay Morgan and Reverend Neil Haynes officiating.  Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening June 18, 2021 at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Order of the Eastern Star – Sonoma Chapter 254, c/o of Butch Allison, 216 Star Ridge Road, Canton, NC  28716.
