Margaret Pottinger

Sabastian, FL , Margaret Mary "Marge" Pottinger, age 77, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, December 21, 2009. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Bert Andrew and Margaret Mary Liptak Dorosy. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel R. Pottinger, who died in 1991 and one brother, Eugene Dorosy. Marge and her husband owned and operated Pottinger and Son Funeral Home in Sebastian, Florida, retiring in 1988. She was a former member of the Sebastian Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Squad and was also very active in community affairs including the Garden Club, Womens Club, and OES. Following her retirement and the death of her husband, she worked in Publix bakery. Marge played softball in her youth and enjoyed bowling, fishing, watching sports, and time spent with her grandchildren. She attended Sebastian United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, Dan Pottinger and his wife, Stacey, of Waynesville, NC and David Pottinger of Sebastian, FL; one daughter, Debbie Schoomaker and her husband, Cliff, of Sebastain, FL; one sister, Pat Mitchell; two brothers, Bert Dorosy and his wife, Lee, and Ted Dorosy and his wife, Kathy; and five grandchildren, Chrissy and Cliff Schoonmaker, Courtney and Zachary Pottinger, and Madison Haney. Visitation and services will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Strunk Funeral Home in Sebastian, Florida with burial to follow at Sebastian Cemetery.
