Margaret Rector

Waynesville, Margaret Parris Rector, age 92, passed away on Monday, May 19 at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late William Russell and Cora Belle Mehaffey Parris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul S. Rector, who died in 1979; four brothers, Fern, Tom, Henley, and Wade; and five sisters, Sarah, Jeannie, Elizabeth, Edna, and Muriel. She was devoted to her family and placed them as her No. 1 priority. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, was an Atlanta Braves fan, and was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Rusty Rector and his wife, Becky, of Candler, NC; one daughter, Wanda Rector Kennedy of St. Cloud, FL; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 35 great-great grandchildren; and special caregiver, Samantha Campbell, who treated Margaret as a mother. A special thanks to the staff of Pisgah Manor for their love and care they gave to Margaret. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Green Hill Cemetery with her son, Reverend Rusty Rector officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pisgah Manor Health Care Center, 99 Holcombe Cove Road, Candler, NC 28715.
