Margaret Sawyer

Brevard/Waynesville, Margaret Teague Sawyer, age 86, of 112 King Street, Brevard, a former resident of Waynesville, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Oaks of Brevard. A native of Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Thomas and Lottie Williams Teague. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Dexter "Bill" Sawyer, who died September 23, 1996; a sister, Freida T. Inman; and one brother, Charles Thomas Teague. Mrs. Sawyer was a 1940 graduate of Waynesville Township High School. She was a previous employee of Olin Matheson Corporation of Brevard, and was a retired graphic designer with the Dayco Corporation of Waynesville. She was a member of Hazelwood Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two daughters, Sally Ann Gordon and her husband, Larry and Pat Sales and her husband, Steve, both of Brevard; one sister, Barbara Montieth, of Thousand Oaks, CA; three grandchildren, William Jeffrey Gordon and his wife, Kelli, of Brevard, Stephanie Gordon Voso and her husband, James, of Fletcher, Matthew Mose Hanna and his wife, Kim, of Charlotte; six great grandchildren, Hannah, Pierson, Megan, and Caleb Gordon, and Nicholos and Sarah Voso. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville with Reverend Larry Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:30 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Following the graveside service, a memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Brevard Davidson River Presbyterian Church with Reverend Keith Thompson officiating.
