Waynesville, Margaret Thomas, 81, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Carolina Pines at Asheville.
A native of Norfolk, Virginia, she had resided in North Carolina since 1964. She was the daughter of the late Carleton and Margaret Caprio Byrd and was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Thomas and a half-brother. Margaret retired in 1997 from Champion Papers as a Forms Supervisor with 17 years of service. She enjoyed making holiday decorations and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church where she loved the fellowship with her church family and also working with the church ministry. Margaret worked as a manager at Haywood Christian Ministries for 10 years.
Margaret is survived by three sons, Anthony Brown of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Robert Brown and his wife, Vicki, of Ft. Myers, Florida and David Brown of Asheville; a step-daughter, Lynn Thomas; and four grandchildren, Parker Brown and Aesop Brown and Morgan and Alison Blazer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor John Brunner officiating. A committal service will immediately follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to services at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
