Margaret West

Maggie Valley, Margaret "Maggie" Elizabeth Blalock West, age 87, of 72 Creekside Drive, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at MedWest Haywood. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late William Harvey and Agnes Swayngim Blalock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dowe West, who died in 1980; a sister, Patsy Pope; one brother, Billy Blalock; and her beloved grandson, Brent Englert. Margaret was a former employee of Dick Shulman's Department Store. She is survived by a daughter, Pam Williams and her husband, Steve, of Maggie Valley; a son, Mike West and his wife, Brenda, of Canton; one sister, Dot Beck, of Waynesville; two grandchildren, Carla Brookshire (Cory) of Clyde and Brian Englert (Jeannine) of Atlanta; and one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Brookshire. Per Margaret's request, a private memorial for family will be held at her daughter's residence at 712 Creekside Drive in Maggie Valley on Sunday, July 21.
