Margie Deweese

December 10, 1925 — April 19, 2004

Waynesville-Margie Helen Deweese, age 78,formerly of Hazelwood, died Monday, April 19, 2004 at Mountain Trace in Sylva.

A native of Jackson County, she had lived most of her life in Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late William and Ethel Mae Jones Ensley. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William T. Deweese,Sr., who died in 1985 and her second husband, J.C. Powell, who died in 1996.She is also preceded in death by two brothers, William T. Ensley, Jr. and Richard Ensley; and one sister, Bobbie Ensley. She was a former employee of Dayco and the Deweese family owned and operated Smoky Mountain Grocery for over 45 years.

She is survived by a son, William T. ''Bill'' Deweese, Jr. and his wife, Sally, of Waynesville; two grandsons, Billy Deweese of Waynesville and Chris Deweese and his wife, Carolyn, of Charleston, SC; one great great granddaughter, Courtney Deweese; six sisters, Betty Cogdill, Peggy Sheehan, Mildred Hill, Linda Taylor, and Shirley Hill, all of Waynesville and Judy Whitley of Ft. Payne, Alabama; two brothers, Reverend Jerry Ensley and H.P. Ensley, both of Waynesville.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with Reverend Jerry Ensley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the Westcare Foundations, Mountain Trace Alzheimer's Unit, 68 Hospital Road, Sylva, NC 28779.
