Clyde-Marianne Gray Ray, age 62 passed away on Friday, November 15, 2013 at her residence. A native of Cobb County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Loyd and Mary Frances Ferguson Gray. She attended Tift College for two years and was a graduate from Georgia State University. Marianne was employed with Haywood County Schools as a teacher for 32 years. She was a member of Clyde Central United Methodist Church and was co-president of the United Methodist Women's Group. She was an avid Georgia Tech and Atlanta Falcons fan and enjoyed collecting teddy bears and reading. Marianne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Gerald Phillip Ray; a son, Scotty Ray and his wife, Angela, of Clyde; a sister, Carol King and her husband, Scott, of Marietta, Georgia and two grandchildren, Parker and Georgia Grace Ray. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Clyde Central United Methodist Church with Reverend Daniel Gaddy and Reverend James Hart officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Roz Buchanan, Susie Schulhofer, Meg Reeves, Debbie Davis, Kathy Smiley, DeEtta Pace, Janice Freeman, Judy Pettigrew, Ellen Hodges-Wolfe, Becky Haynes and Rachel Smith. Memorials may be made to Faith Community Church Building Fund, 289 Industrial Park Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786.
