Marie Best Byers, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Estella Worley Best. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, J.R., and Carroll Best. Marie was a member of Clyde First Baptist Church and was president of the Truthseekers Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Pisgah Camping Club and a long time member of the White Oak and Pisgah Cloggers. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman "Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her." Proverbs 31:28. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joseph Lee Byers; one daughter, Rinda B. Green and her husband, Lee, of Clyde; one son, Joe Byers, Jr., of Inman, South Carolina; two sisters, Frances Cook and her husband, Bill, and Bobbie King and her husband, Doyle, all of Canton; four grandchildren, Eli Byers, Lindsay Wertz, Benjamin Green and his wife, Samantha, and Hayden Green; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Wertz and Kendall Green. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with her grandson, Mr. Hayden Green officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will be celebrating Marie's life by receiving friends from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening, at the family home, 33 Byers Den Drive in Clyde.
