Marie Dayton

Marie Owen Dayton, age 95, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012, in Matthews, North Carolina. Formerly of Ford Street, she was a native of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Grady and Inez Smathers Owen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Woodrow Dayton, who died in 1994; and two daughters, Margaret DuPuy, who died in 1995, and Mary Hollifield, who died in 1987. Marie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Madelyn Lewis of Matthews and Becky Dayton; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Locust Field Cemetery with the Reverend Darrell Webb officiating.
