Marie Smith

Clyde- Ida Marie Jones Smith, age 73 of 1519 Big Branch Rd., died February 7, 2005 in a motor vehicle accident in Haywood County along with her husband, Carroll E. Smith. She was a daughter of the late Ernest and Faye Cogdill Jones and attended Crabtree Baptist Church. She and her husband enjoyed trips to Lake Chatuge and supporting their grandchildren in all their activities. They loved to travel and went to many Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Whitner and her husband Terry of Waynesville; two sons, Michael E. Smith and his wife Jerrie, and David E. Smith and his wife Charlene all of Canton; one brother, James Jones of Brevard; 6 grandchildren, Shanna and Mitchell Whitner, and Jenifer, Jody, Daniel and Emily Smith; 3 great-grandchildren, Kirsten Trantham, Addison Mason and Kade Trantham. Joint funeral services for Mrs. Smith and her husband will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2005 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services. Reverend Bruce Cayton, Reverend William O. Henson and Reverend Danny Little will officiate. Burial will follow in Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of the daughter, 117 Timothy Lane, Waynesville, NC 28786.
