Marie Trantham

Clyde, Dorothy Marie Wood Trantham, age 70, passed away on Friday, January 30. 2015 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Marion Harding and Sadie Ellen Hannah Wood. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her lifelong companion, Bob Sales; two brothers, Tommy and Edward Wood; a sister, Mildred Wood and a half-sister, Geraldine Fie. Marie retired from Lake Junaluska Assembly with 20 years of service as an Account Manager and was also employed by Sears Corporation for 27 years. She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church. Marie was a very special lady who had a unique way of making people feel as though they had known her for a lifetime. She truly had never met a stranger. She loved the mountains and enjoyed trips to the parkway to take in their beauty. Marie deeply loved her family and will be dearly missed by all. She is survived by two sons, Steven Trantham and his wife, Andrea, of Hendersonville and Alan Trantham and his wife, Sherry of Clyde; a brother, Charles Wood and his wife, Sandra, of Clyde; three grandchildren, Hannah, Trey and Clay Trantham; two nieces, Carla Henry and Jennifer Wood, a nephew, Keith Wood; and several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Alan Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
