Marilyn Clark

Marilyn Elizabeth Medford Clark, age 80, died Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Clare Bridge of Asheville. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late James Augustus and Roberta Mehaffey Medford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Blaine Medford. Marilyn had previously lived in Canton, San Antonio, TX, and McClain, VA and was a member of Fletcher United Methodist Church and was a retired administrative assistant with the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington DC. She was a former x-ray technician at Lee County Hospital in Sanford and Rex Hospital in Raleigh and a former secretary at Hazelwood Elementary School. Marilyn enjoyed crafts, canning, and making jelly and was also an accomplished seamstress. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John Edward Clark; one son, Michael Patrick Clark and his wife, Linda, of Oak Ridge, TN; two daughters, Bettina Clark Hall and her husband, Kevin, of Arden, and Lisa Clark Patterson and her husband, Bob, of Roanoke Rapids; and seven grandchildren, Jennifer H. Gravely and her husband, Ross, of Burlington, Alyssa Hall of Charlotte, John Patterson of Annapolis, MD, Benjamin Patterson of Raleigh and Will Patterson of Roanoke Rapids, Landon Clark and his wife, Kayla, of Knoxville, TN, and Kelsie Clark of Oak Ridge, TN. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2010 at Fletcher United Methodist Church with the Reverend Stephen R. Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Churchyard in Fletcher. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care and support of Clare Bridge of Asheville and Memory Care.
