Canton – Marilyn McClellan Mears stepped away from us permanently March 14 to begin her journey through the never ending universe and beyond.
Marilyn’s passing was due to complications of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), a disease she steadfastly battled for 20 years. She was the longest living Flolan patient, Flolan, an IV continuous medication, was her friend for more than 17 years.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, R.A. (Mac) McClellan. She is survived by her husband, Mike; daughter, Corinne; mother, Frances; sister, Rene; brother, Bob; and other extended family members; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and one great-grandnephew. Left to wonder where she has gone are her two pit bulls and three black cats, on whom she doted endlessly.
Marilyn was a five-star cook—nay, chef!—and was known for her Friday Fridge Tidy, culminating in the best, most unbelievable soups—always as different as each Friday’s ingredients.
She will be sorely missed and remembered for her strength of spirit, her kindness, and her affinity for all things creative and crafty.
Marilyn will be interred in a private family ceremony with a memorial service to follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SARGE’S Animal Rescue Foundation, P.O. Box 854, Waynesville, NC 28786.
The care of Mrs. Mears has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
