Maggie Valley-Marion Jeanette Parlette, of Country Club Drive, died on Monday, April 21, 2003 at her residence.
She was born in Lakewood, Ohio, to the late Arthur C. and Freda K. Gohlke. The family then moved to Berea, Ohio, where she resided before attending Bowling Green State University of Ohio. Prior to moving to Maggie Valley in 1981, she worked as a medical records technician in Livonia, Michigan. While living in Maggie Valley, she was active in volunteer work for several years, working with Meals on Wheels and as a member of Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Clyde.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert J. Parlette. They met on campus and were married in their senior year. She is also survived by three daughters, Diana Lubinski and Carol Ward of Livonia, Michigan, and Linda Stewart of Waynesville; a brother, Charles Gohlke of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.
Marion's family wishes to convey their deepest appreciation for all the prayers and expressions of love during and after her time of illness. Thank you.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Clyde, NC with Reverend John Greene officiating.
