MARION H. WOOD

Waynesville-Marion Harding Wood, age 83, of 1395 Iron Duff Road, died Thursday, April 24, 2003 at his residence.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Erastus and Mary M0denia Sutton Wood. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Hannah Wood, who died in 1991; two sons, Eddie and Tommy Wood; a daughter, Mildred Wood; three brothers, Ernest, Robert, and Raymond Wood; and three sisters, Carrie Messer, Annie Chambers, and Mary Lou Messer. He was a retired store manager for W. R. Grace.

He is survived by a son, Charles Wood, and his wife, Sandra, of the Iron Duff Community; a daughter, Marie Trantham, and her friend, Bob Sales, of Clyde; a sister, Lacy Allison, of the Hemphill Community; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Steve Trantham, Alan Trantham, Keith Wood, Martin Ferguson, Bob Sales, Darwin Crawford, Logan Wood, and Josh Santiago. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Milner, Jim Leatherwood, Floyd Frisbee, and Jerry Park.
