Marjorie Jean Tipton Whitted, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at MedWest-Haywood. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Freddie Parham and Joyce Ericson; and two brothers, Harry B. and Harold Tipton. She was a dedicated member of Canton First Baptist Church. Marjorie will be remembered for her kind, caring, and giving spirit. She was a very talented seamstress, sewing everything she designed by hand, even making her daughter's wedding dress and her hand-sewn quilts have been passed down through generations in her family. Her delicious scratch made cakes were well-known by her family and friends, especially her pound cakes and chocolate swirl cakes. The light of her life was her family who she loved dearly especially her grandchildren. Marjorie was indeed a very special, giving lady. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Ray Whitted; a daughter, Martha Laughlin and her husband, Dr. Curg Laughlin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Kevin, Lori, Patrick, and Christopher; and eight great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Jay Meadows officiating.
