Mark Murray

"Loving Son, Brother and Uncle" Canton- Mark Lee Murray, age 59, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Haywood County, Mark was the son of Leroy and Lila Jo Gillis Murray of Canton. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Owen and Elza Mae Murray and Herman and Minnie Gillis. Mark was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church in Canton. He was an avid reader, a passionate Duke Blue Devils basketball fan, a hunter and outdoorsman. He was a talented musician who held a black belt in Tai Kwan Do and had a deep love for his family. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his two sisters, Kelli McKinnish and her husband, Keith, and Laura Conard and her husband , Brian; a brother, Scott Murray and his wife, Lycia; six nieces and nephews, Jennifer McKinnish Burton, Nathan Murray, Travis Murray, Jonathan McKinnish, Austin Conard and Eli Conard; and nine great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Spring Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastors Keith Clark, Donnie Henson, and Scott Murray officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at the funeral home. Honorary Pallbearers will be his niece and nephews.
