Mark Noland, 66, of Waynesville passed away in his home surrounded by family on May 25, 2024. He was born in Waynesville, NC on June 3, 1957, to James Hardy and Margie Liner Noland.
A loving father, husband, grandfather, friend, and neighbor, Mark was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His warm personality and kind spirit touched the lives of many, creating lasting bonds with everyone he met.
Mark was a skilled craftsman, who loved the lake, fishing, boating, and relaxing with loved ones. He was able to travel the world through his work and enjoyed the seafood dining experiences that came along the way, including trips to the Bahamas and Maine with his wife and best friends. He also loved chocolate; we can’t forget the chocolate.
Spending countless hours in his shop, he would dream up, draw, and construct projects out of wood, glass, or metal. His artistic abilities and meticulous attention to detail were showcased in every piece. But what brought him the most joy, was teaching and being in the company of his grandchildren, Eli, Cole, Benson, Aslyn, Landon, and Charlie.
Mark received his bachelor’s degree in industrial technology from Western Carolina University in 1979 where he also met his wife of 43 years. His commitment to excellence was evident in every aspect of his life, both personally and professionally. He dedicated 32 years of his life serving as a quality control engineer at Dayco and Nypro. Throughout this time, he exemplified diligence leaving a lasting impact on those he worked with.
Mark's legacy of love and compassion will forever remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace knowing that he made the world a better place through his kindness and generosity.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Rob Blackburn officiating. A celebration of his life will follow from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Appalachian Farm Events, 592 Qualla Road, Waynesville, NC 28785.
