Mark Rathbone

Mark Graham Rathbone, 90, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at MedWest Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Charles (Dick) and Dola Clark Rathbone of Fines Creek. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Fowler Rathbone, who died in 2008; five brothers, Len, Raymond, Reeves, Elmer and John Rathbone; and four sisters, Lollie Crane, Mary Webb, Minnie Lee Green, and Alda Green. Mark was a horse and cattle farmer, owner/operator of Rathbone Meat Processing, and he also worked at Skyland Camp for Girls for 70 + years. He was a member of Louisa Chapel United Methodist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Jackie Alexander and Beverly Swanson, both of Clyde; his special friend, Jake, his burrow, and also his second family, Bunny Brown, Sherry, Mike and Tara, and their three children, and Murphy and Sharleen Brown. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Louisa Chapel United Methodist Church with the Reverend James M. Armstrong and the Reverend Carrol Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. Pallbearers will be Bruce Swanson, Danny Caldwell, Terry and Benny Justice, Dennis Francis, Buddy Cochran, Mike Brown, and Jeff Meadows.
