Marshall James Burris, age 80, passed away August 2, 2024, at his residence.
Marshall was the son of the late Ray and Belva Mashburn Burris. In addition to his parents, Marshall was preceded in death by the love of his life, Dianna “Mammy” Worley Burris, who passed away in 2022; a daughter, Jamie Clark; and brother, Terry Burris. Marshall enlisted in the Untied States Army and served his country with distinction during the Vietnam War. He was a proud veteran with tremendous love for his country. In 1987, Marshall and Mammy bought a piece of heaven in Dandridge, Tennessee, and in 1993 opened Shady Holler Campground. Marshall was known to ride his Gator from one camper to the next hound dogging the neighborhood. He had a passion for all animals from his German Sheppherd dogs, deer, to the ducklings he would raise from birth. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who will forever be remembered in the hearts of his family and Shady Holler family.
Marshall is survived by his loving daughters Beverly Ferguson, and her husband, Michael, of Clyde, Tina McClure and her husband, Stuart, of Canton, and Marsha Brown and her husband, David, of Virginia; sons, Benny Brock and his wife, Amy, of Canton and Erich Burris and his wife, Jackie, of Waynesville; eight grandchildren, Adam Birchfield, Taryn Joiner (Alex), Bronson Brock (Amber), Andrew Ferguson (Kim), Mathew Brock, Sarah Brock, Madison Burgess (Brandon), Tyler Williamson (Lacey); seven great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Charlie, Calvin, Odin, Waylon, Oliver, and Dublin; and special friends, Bobby and Linda Robinson, and Alan and Elizabeth James.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Beaverdam Baptist Church with Reverend Doug Worley officiating.
