Marshall Justice

Marshall Dean Justice, age 62, of Wesley Street died Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at Duke University Medical Center. He was a native of Madison County and the son of the late Brackenridge and Leona Webb Justice. He was also preceded in death by his eldest brother, William Justice and his wife, Lucille. Dean served as president and vice-president of the Spring Creek Community Center. He was an author and narrator of many fiction and non-fiction mountain folk tales. He was an accomplished musician and faithful member of Canton First Baptist Church and he loved his cat, Tigger, dearly. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Diane Queen Justice; a daughter, Karen Justice of Charlotte; two sons, Brian Justice of Forest City and Jeff Mann and his wife, Brenda, of White Mills, KY; two sisters, Sara Plemmons of Hickory and Dortha Smith of Waynesville; five brothers, James Justice and his wife, Wanda, of Brevard, Ed Justice and his wife, Eleanor, of Waynesville, Ray Justice and his wife, Polly, of Wilmington, C. J. Justice and his wife, Mary, of Waynesville, and C. B. Justice, Jr. and his wife, Peggy, of Candler; three grandchildren, Charmayne, Jacob and Vincent Mann; and a special friend, Zondra Bell. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2007, at Canton First Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Rick Gosnell, Reverend Phil Willett, Reverend Jimmy Moore, and Reverend Lloyd Fish officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Smith, Doyle, Garry, Roger, and Tim Justice, and Gary Moore. Honorary pallbeares will be John Burwell, Layton Davis, J. D. Waldrop, Joe and Thomas Justice, Earnest Presnell, George Kirkpatrick, and Ernie Phillips.
