Marshall Weatherholtz

Fleming Island, Florida, Marshall Wayne Weatherholtz, 84, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, in Fleming Island, Florida.

Wayne was the son of the late David and Virginia Zepp Weatherholtz.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Lucy Jones Weatherholtz, who died in 2011; five sisters; and two brothers.

He proudly served in the United States Navy in the Korean War.  Wayne retired from JC Penney in 2012 with 49 years of dedicated service.  He started his career in the shoe department and was eventually promoted to District Buyer.  Wayne was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan; but his greatest passion in life was his family.  He was a constant source of support, guidance and love.  Wayne was a life-long Methodist and a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church.  He was also active in a neighborhood Bible study and a mason.

Wayne is survived by two sons, Jeff Weatherholtz and his wife, Kathy, of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Joel Weatherholtz and his wife, Becky, of Fleming Island, Florida; one sister, Gloria Risser of Lebanon, PA; eight grandchildren, Erica Cody (Steve), Jeffery Weatherholtz, Holly Smith (RT), Russell Corley (Murphy), Josh McElewany (Jessica), Sara Weatherholtz, Taylor Wilson, and Jacob Weatherholtz; and eight great-grandchildren, Karah, Nicholas, Benjamin, Eli, Alex, Brently, Myla, and Nash.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2020 in the Chapel of Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.  Burial will follow at Fincher’s Chapel Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

The care of Mr. Weatherholtz has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
