Martha Pressley Hinson

Candler – Martha Ann Hinson (Gangee), 88, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, January 19, 2024, due to Alzheimer’s disease and a series of strokes.  She was born on April 11, 1935.   She married the love of her life, Ted Hinson, on June 18, 1954.  They were married for 69 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Hazel Hipps Pressley and brother, Robert L. Pressley.

Martha was employed by Sears for several years as a credit clerk. Before becoming a clerk for four years in Superior Court.  She finished her career as a teacher’s assistant for 20 years at Pisgah Elementary School.   She loved working with the kids.

Martha was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church her whole life.  She served as a Sunday School Teacher, youth leader, President of the United Methodist Women, and member of the church choir.  Music and singing were her passion.  She loved to sing right up to the end.

Martha is survived by her husband, Ted Hinson; her four children, Ronnie Hinson (Mary), Lori Turner (Anthony), Mark Hinson (Rena), and Mickey Hinson (Beckie); grandchildren, Jordon Hinson, Aaron Roberts (Rebecca), Eric Hinson (Caitlin), Brandon Hinson, Whytni Turner (Adam), Ashley Klutz (Nathan), Dylan Roberts, and Malorie and Faith Mills; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; brother, Ray Pressley (Jo) and sister, Carolyn Moody.

We would like to thank Four Season’s Hospice for the great care they gave our mother.  A very special thanks to Mama’s in home caregivers, Darla Allen, Olga Hurtado, and Amanda Banks.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2024 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Hill officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
