Martha Russell Mease

Waynesville, Martha Ann Russell Mease, age 89, peacefully passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023 at her home.

Martha was part of a big family and was a daughter of Rufus Howard Russell and Ella Garren Russell.  She was also preceded in death by her dear husband of 63 years, Bobby Reed Mease, who died in 2019; sister, Edna Harris; and two brothers, Joe and John Russell.

Martha was a natural caregiver who lived a charitable life.  She created many memories and friendships traveling with Christian Tours.  A proud member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Martha enjoyed singing in the choir.  A voice silenced is now in God’s heavenly choir.

She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Mease; sons, David Mease (Leisa) and Mark Mease (Windy); brother, Fred Russell (Pat); four grandchildren, Jesse Mease (Jennifer), Sarah Mease, Jacob Mease, and Taylor Messer (Jordan); and seven great-grandchildren.  The family would like to extend their gratitude to Martha’s special caregiver, Crystal Messer.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2023 in the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. David Russell officiating.  Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

The care of Mrs. Mease has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
