Martha White

Canton-Martha Best White, age 88, of South Lee Street in Americus, GA died Monday, November 29, 2004 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Americus. She was a native of Haywood County and was a daughter of the late T. Dave and Argyle Hall Best. She was also preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. She retired from Columbus College in Columbus, GA in 1988 and was a lifelong Methodist. She is survived by three sons, J. Samuel White of Columbus, GA, John G. White of Thomasville, GA and Jack H. White of Perry, GA, two sisters, Jeanerette B. Fraske of Greenville, SC and Delorese Best of Canton, 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2004 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services. Reverend Carrol Lindsey will officiate. Burial will follow at Plains United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the sister, Delorese Best, 130 Academy Street, Canton, NC 28716. Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
